Because we ALL need connection...
From the moment we take our first breath, we are hardwired to connect with others to achieve safety, security and belonging. Through these early connections and experiences of care, we learn whether we can trust ourselves, others and our world. Sometimes, through no fault of our own, safe connections and acceptance have been missing in our lives due to neurodivergence and/or negative early developmental experiences. We may encounter neglect, rejection, or abuse, simply for being who we are. We may walk through life feeling like outsiders struggling to understand our experiences. Being neurodivergent or otherwise nonconforming in a world that doesn't seem to be designed for you can be painfully invalidating and isolating. Some might hide behind social masks or withdraw, and question why we are never good enough. I believe that with compassion, understanding and new knowledge, you can move forward towards a more fulfilling life. I invite you to join me in a safe space to take off your mask and be authentically yourself while you work towards healing. Together we can explore your personal experiences, find your strengths, address past and current challenges, and develop goals to move forward in your life. I use humor and empathy to work with you in your personal healing, increase dignity, and grow in areas where you feel broken or stuck. Our goal is to tend to the life wounds and false beliefs that hinder you from your fullest potential and a meaningful life.

How I practice...
I am a neurodivergent, queer, female, independent clinical social worker. I use psychoeducation and talk therapy through a trauma informed, neurodivergent affirming approach to provide collaborative support for personal healing and growth. I approach the therapeutic relationship as a partnership, with the understanding that you are the expert in yourself. I'll support you in exploring who you are, how you experience the world, and what your values and strengths are in order to help you grow in areas where you feel stuck. I use client centered, evidence based therapeutic approaches, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Internal Family Systems to customize care for you. I am trained in Level 2 Eye Movement and Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) and Anchored Relational Therapy (formerly known as AIR Network) to address developmental trauma at a neurological level. I utilize ongoing continuing professional education to provide competent, skilled care. I also use neurodevelopmental and attachment theories to inform the work I do. I use a social work lens that acknowledges the need that all people have to be seen, heard, and known and recognizes the impact of the various systems that shape our lives. I welcome all religions, cultures, genders, and sexual orientations. For those seeking support for ASD/ADHD, I offer affirming therapy which honors the Neurodiversity Paradigm and is non-pathologizing and non-conformist in approach. I also provide the gay, lesbian, bi, nonbinary, queer and transgender communities safe and affirming care.
How to Get Started
Contact me to briefly discuss your needs. If desired, I can offer a free, 15 minute phone or video consultation to find out more about your goals, our therapeutic fit and my current availability. Upon availability, an intake appointment, called a Diagnostic Assessment, is jointly scheduled and online intake forms are sent to you. I offer both in-person and telehealth appointments.
Let me know you are interested! I have a short waiting list at this time and can take new clients as I have openings. It's important to reach out and advise me of your treatment goals and availability. From there, we can determine if we are a good fit and when we might be able to begin our work together.

Why the Thistle?
The blue thistle has long been a sign of endurance, strength, and protection. This is due to this flower’s spiky foliage which guards its soft interior to withstand adverse conditions in its natural environment. To me, blue thistles are a symbol of the self-protection, resilience and inherent beauty seen in neurodivergent and other marginalized individuals who persevere despite social inequalities and challenging environments in our world. It can be hard to survive in a culture which promotes harmful ideals of a “right” type of brain, gender, sexuality, ethnicity, or culture. These experiences can lead to complex trauma, and sometimes we need support to remember that we are worthy, to stand in our dignity, and embrace our unique beauty.
